Everyone with an accumulation of outstanding debt is in search of credit card debt relief.
We all would like to work for ourselves and not just to pay off our massive pile of ugly debt.
So, one might say, getting debt relief is really about reclaiming your life as your own.
Debt Relief Is Really Stress Relief
Often you’ll hear people saying things like “I have to get a better job or I’ll never pay of this outstanding debt”.
It seems that credit card debt relief isn’t just about getting rid of your outstanding debt it’s also about getting some much needed stress relief.
I would say that the stress relief is the most satisfying part of debt relief.
I believe everyone is aware of the harmful effects of stress.
Putting It Off
The first thing you want to do is put off all unnecessary purchases until some late date.
There’s nothing that you can purchase that will give you as much satisfaction as paying off your outstanding debt.
As well as putting off unnecessary purchases, there are also new habits you need to form in order to achieve the lasting debt relief you’re after.
4 Simple Steps To Begin
1. Prepare a (rigid) monthly budget and keep to it
2. Whenever possible use cash instead of credit for anything new you buy
(this will help reduce any unnecessary spending)
3. Consolidate your credit card debt by using 0 percent credit cards and 0 percent balance transfers (there are many offers that will save you money on interest that you can apply towards your debt)
4. Hire a professional consultant for advice
Forming New Spending Habits
Another area that we need to discuss is how to proceed after you have finally rid yourself of debt.
If you’re not smart you could find yourself right back where you started.
You can’t go on a shopping spree to celebrate the fact that you’ve eliminated your credit card debt.
Unfortunately this is a very common event.
Following Through
We’ve covered some basic steps that you can use to begin to get your credit card debt relief.
Remember, this is a process so it doesn’t happen overnight.
Credit card debt relief takes time so don’t get discouraged and quit.
Accumulate as much information on the subject that you can possibly find.
Educate yourself. I’m rooting for ya, good luck!
Great ideas here. Also, Make it a regular practice to call your credit cards to ask for a lower rate. I have one client who owes over $20,000 on a Visa that was at 18%. He spoke with a ‘rate specialist’, touting his rising credit score and declining balance and got his rate cut in half, from 18% to 9%! His monthly interest charge was instantly reduced by $150, which will help him pay off his debt even sooner.
That’s great advice Kris. Thanks for the excellent tip!
